Single Barrel or Gentleman?

I was in the shops yesterday and was confronted with the question of whether to purchase a bottle of Single Barrel or Gentleman Jack. The price difference was negligible, but I was uncertain as to the interesting aspects of each different blend.

I've had a few glasses of Laphroaig in bars on occasion. It is a favorite of my Irish friend, yet I have always found it to be too smoky for my liking. However, I am unsure as to which Laphroaig I have had exactly.

I enjoy my Jameson with 2 small cubes of ice. It takes a lot of the bite off it, but leaves a really mellow taste afterwards. The Lady Crispin has commented on the positive aspects of its flavor.
